Comments: I am working with a vet rep in the SF Bay area to prove my VA claim. The VA has a long history of telling artillery vets, Army and Marine Corps, that there is no "proof" that we were in combat. For any of you trying to prove a PTSD claim, information exists, through google searches and other means, to verify combat deaths, WIA's and combat incidents. Get a good vet rep to help you. If you have PTSD, or hearing loss/tinnitus, you deserve to be compensated. Anyone in Whiskey Battery remember the night Clyde Brown was killed at An Hoa? The date was 5/28/1970. From my vet rep: When you post incidents and show pics, PLEASE try to give the date, or at least, approx month and year! You can help a brother prove his claim.

Comments: Anyone recall the dogs of H&S Battery during '53-'54? Champ, Lobo, and Babydoll come to mind. Babydoll's name was later changed to Rotation as she seem to have a litter of puppys everytime some Marines were rotating home.

Comments: My father, John A. Smith, served in this unit in Korea from, April 10, 1952 - Oct 8, 1952, tranferred to "I" Co, 3rd BN, 7th Inf, until Mar 9, 1953. He passed away 5 years ago, and recently my mother gave me the few things he had from his service. I have been curious about unit activites while he was there, locations of those units, maps, anything at all would be greatly appreciated so I can get an idea of his time in Korea. I know he had a couple photo albums, but the ones I remember, my mother says she never saw. Any info would be appreciated.

John Matthews wrote on 2004-12-21 19:17:59.0
Comments: My old friend Tom Reilly was killed in Korea in 1952. He and I went to school together in Chicago, along with another Buddy, Jack Doherty. We always think of Tom, and wonder what happened to him. We were both in the service in 1952 and were not home when he died. I was in the Army, later in Korea, Jack Doherty was in the Marines in Korea.
We would like to know what happened to Tom. We understand it was not a result of hostile action. Years ago, someone told me that he died in a bunker cave-in.
Would appreciate any information. His unit was Hq Btry, 2nd Bn, 11th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division.
