Comments: Looking for anyone who was in C co 2/503 Infantry in 1990 when we went to the DMZ in February-April. I was in 1st Squad Second Platoon with Sgt. Drexler as my squad leader, and SFC Zimmerman as our PSG. My roomate was PFC Jurnett. I had a painting of a DMZ Soldier standing on Guard post Collier and I forgot the painting in my room when we disbanded. I know it is probably lost forever but I am trying to find anyone who was there and who might remember that painting and saw who grabbed it. I cannot find that painting AT ALL online or anywhere. I can swear I had Adishi paint this painting from the cover of a newsweek magazine, but all the magazine do not have that picture, Thanks for the Help and I look forward ot making contact with old Army buddies.

Comments: From 10/90 to 02/92 I was the 2ND Infantry Divisions G-2 DMZ Surveillance NCO. I was responsible for the coordinating contrctual maintenance on surveillance equipment along the DMZ at 6 U.S. Army RADAR Sites - Pan Mun Jom to the Cheorwon Valley. I also coordinated V.I.P. visits to the sites and reported the daily equipment status reports. I drove to each of the site weekly to not only check on the equipment but also to see how the troops at the sites were, even though they did not work for me. Their wellbeing was just as impotant to me as the equipment was. I logged over 10K miles, accident free, in a HMMV covering from TDC to Yongsan Garrison, and the RADAR Sites. I wish to thank all of those personnel who worked at those sites (R.S. 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 7) for all of their hard work and their hospitality when I was visiting their sites. I know the sites were turned over to the R.O.K.s not long after I departed and that R.S. 1 is now the Dora Observatory (tourist site).

Comments: My husband was stationed at Camp Casey from 1992-1993. He was recently diagnosed with a rare form of cancer - Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma. It's a non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. We're looking for anyone that spent a great deal of time out in the field (he was an artillery surveyor)in the late 80s through the 90s and has developed one of the presumptive diseases attributed to Agent Orange exposure.
We know Agent Orange was used in the 60s and possibly 70s at Camp Casey. We also know that dioxin (a component of Agent Orange) stays in the ground for a very long time. We are interested in if there is a cluster of health problems for vets who served there years after Agent Orange was sprayed, but spent a great deal of time in contact with the contaminated soil.
Please leave a message if you fit this description. We hope to bring enough evidence to the VA to get something done. Thanks.

CIB for DMZ service Korea |

James Buckley wrote on 2009-11-24 10:07:23.0
Comments: Just curious if any one has attempted to receive their CIB(retroactively)-The US ARMY recently rescinded their stringent & biased requirements on issuance ,for those who served on the DMZ Korea(it was almost impossible to receive). The NEW inclusive dates are///Korea on the DMZ (4 January 1969 to 31 March 1994)-& the Joint Security Area,Panmunjom,Korea(23 November 1984).I started a claim W/ABCMR-& it was returned w/o predjudice, because i didnt exaust all administrative remedies available to me,so my application is in the process of review @//// Commander,US ARMY Human Resource Command,ATTN:AHRC-PDO-PA,200 Stovall Street,Alexandria,Virginia 22332-0471.I have always had a hard time explaining to people that upon departure from "Foward Friendly Lines",at the southern boundary of the DMZ,"we" were actively engaged in a routine course of squad sized patrolling and ambush operations,to prevent and disrupt NKPA forces from openly conducting patrols, and deny enemy infiltration routes in and through the DMZ,although "we" never received a CIB.Any questions ,comments,or experiences attempting to receive the CIB retro-actively are appreciated.

Comments: I am looking for anyone who can recall any specific un-professional/un-becomming, incidents/problems with 2nd.Lt.McKINNEY(5/20-INF_C co.?,Camp CASEY)1990.I served 2 back to back tours on the DMZ,the first w/ 2/503,the latter w/ 5/20,1990.I recall hearing that Lt. McKINNEY,relieved my squad leader @ the time,SSGT.Lorenzo CRUZ,a 15+ year ARMY Veteran, of duty, for defecating on himself(an un-likely story and most humiliatating claim),and i remember him(McKINNEY),used to like to throw his weapon(M16-A2) down on the ground,in attempt to intimidate soldiers when he was "mad/pissed",get in their face and start yelling/screaming, while pushing up against them with his body(I witnessed an incident where he(McKINNEY)did this and almost knocked the guy over,he was pushing so violently and screaming.I also had an incident with this Lt.,on a live fire exercise off,but adjacent or in close proximity to the DMZ(they had nice new tile showers and latrines up on a hill @ this range, name???).Any stories, events,or recollections of Lt. McKinney, and his actions,or of those he caused to suffer,or of similiar leaders????
