    After The Truce

Thank you for visiting the DMZ Veterans Center,  presenting a message center and articles to give you more insight into the level of hostility and danger present along the DMZ since the declaration of truce in July 1953.

The shooting war, on a grand scale, is indeed over, but since 1953 over 88 Americans have died along the barbed wire. Many more have been wounded.

In 1976, the Tree Trimming Incident, which many of us saw on television, highlighted the level of tension invisible to the American Public. The resultant Paul Bunyon Operation to finish the tree pruning took place in wide view of the general public.

In 1968, the infamous Pueblo Incident took place with loss of life and inprisonment of Americans in North Korea. In addition, the Blue House Incident has been largely unknown.

Visitors to South Korea, today, can go to one of the North Korean tunnelling efforts to examine the level of aggression existing along the entire DMZ .
